‘for’ + gerund(ing) – used to describe function of a thing

July 25, 2025Posted in My Past

Why it’s wrong:

“For” + gerund (-ing) is usually used to describe the function of a thing, not a person’s purpose.

When “for + verb-ing” IS correct:

This knife is for cutting bread. (Function of an object)

A blender is for making smoothies.

My time is for making me happy.
